SimpleDirect builds AI you can own. Our entire business model depends on you not having to trust us with your data. This page explains exactly what we collect and what we don't.

The short version

We sell software, not surveillance. Your AI usage — every prompt, every document, every conversation — happens on your machine and never reaches us. We collect your email if you join the waitlist or send us a message. That's it.

What we collect

Here is the full list of personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how long we keep it.

Waitlist email

If you join the waitlist, we collect your email address. We use it to send you one email when a model or the app ships. Stored with Kit (formerly ConvertKit). Kept until you unsubscribe.

Contact form submissions

If you send us a message, we collect your name, email, optional company, inquiry type, and message. We use it to reply. Kept indefinitely unless you ask for deletion.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records basic technical information for every request: IP address, user agent, page requested, time. Retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging.

Language preference cookie

When you switch between English and French, we store your choice in a cookie named NEXT_LOCALE so the right language loads next time. This is the only cookie we set. It expires after one year.

What we do not collect

These are things we explicitly do not collect, now or ever, by design.

  • Anything from AI inference. When you run a SimpleDirect model on your hardware, the prompts, outputs, documents, and conversations stay on your hardware. They are not sent to us. We could not collect them even if we wanted to.
  • Document contents indexed by the desktop app (when it ships). Indexing happens locally.
  • Telemetry from the desktop app. No analytics, no error reports, no usage data sent home.
  • Behavioural tracking cookies, fingerprinting, or advertising identifiers.

Third parties

These services help run the site. Each has its own privacy policy.

Kit (ConvertKit)

Email service provider. Stores waitlist signups and sends newsletters. Located in the United States.

Ghost CMS (founderreality.com)

We fetch blog post listings from Founder Reality's Ghost CMS. No personal data is sent to Ghost when you browse our blog.

Founder Reality ecosystem launcher

A small script loaded from founderreality.com that links our site to George's other properties. No tracking.

Your rights

You are protected by Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and Ontario provincial law. Specifically, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct it if it is wrong
  • Ask us to delete it
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for material changes, send an email to anyone on the waitlist.
